Brief description The bacteria that live in the gut interact with the hosts cells and are thought to contribute to causing or preventing diseases, including bowel cancer. We know that diet can change these bacteria populations, but we still do not fully understand how they interact with host cells. The differences in our personal genes are often included in studies of gut bacteria and health and disease. This project aims to consider the role of genes for taste in changing the bacteria and the body’s responses.
