Brief description Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a severe inflammatory condition of the lungs that complicates many critical illnesses and is associated with high mortality and morbidity. Although intensive care admission and mechanical ventilation provide life-saving support during ARDS, they can lead to poor long term outcome. The aim of this program is to compare the clinical efficiency of new strategies in ICU to that of current standard care and to improve the quality of survival of patients with ARDS.
