Full description Dementia is a leading cause of death in Australia with a huge socioeconomic burden. Network of the brains executive cells, the neurons, are critical for the normal function of the brain. We hypothesize that distinct populations of neurons are compromised or lost in dementia brains, resulting initially in mild cognitive impairment and progressing to severe dementia. This project aims at understanding how these network fail and will test novel way to prevent or treat the resulting deficits.
