Full description

Metric: Annual catch weight for each species (kg).

Measures the total weight of each non-target species that is caught and retained by the fishery. This helps track how much of these species is being harvested over time.

Lineage

Maintenance and Update Frequency: quarterly
Statement: Step 1: Locate the most recent predefined retained non-target (byproduct) species list for the fishery from the fishery management website for each jurisdiction or other available source. Step 2: Obtain catch weight for each byproduct species from fishery reports for the most recent year. If catch weight is unavailable for a byproduct species, report "Data not found" for that species and the year of data collection for the framework. Step 3: Report the total catch weight for each byproduct species of the fishery and the data's year of provenance and/or publication where available.
