Participants were assessed for their cognitive status in face to face interview, then undertook physical measurements to determine their falls risk, and completed a self-report questionnaires including basic socio-demographic, question about history of falls, quality of life, depression, past 3-month physical activity, whether they had been ever diagnosed with 13 listed chronic conditions and what medications they take. During 12 months they had to post data on their falls on a monthly basis. Twenty three retirement villages offering independent living accommodations were participated in the DAnCE study. Data were collected at the village site in a staggered manner starting on September 2012 and the follow-up data ended on August 2014. Data was entered using Microsoft Access Software.
