Brief description

This dataset contains water quality data collected by Gabrielle Miller of James Cook University in 2014 at three different reefs and three different microhabitats around the Lizard Island Lagoon.

Full description

This dataset contains water quality data collected using SeaFET Ocean pH sensors at three separate reefs around Lizard Island. SeaFETs were deployed on soft coral, hard coral, and sandy habitats at each reef simultaneously to measure in situ total pH, and temperature every 5 minutes over a 9 day period. Water samples were collected to measure total alkalinity and dissolved inorganic carbon at each point of the tidal cycle during each deployment. Salinity, tide height, wind speed and direction, cloud cover, and rain accumulation were sourced from either the Australian Bureau of Meteorology or the Integrated Marine Observing System. pCOand fCO2 were calculated using the program CO2SYS.

The full methodology is available in the accompanying publication "Diel pCO2 variation among coral reefs and microhabitats at Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef"
