Brief description Asthma is the most common chronic condition in Australian children, resulting in >20,000 hospitalisations and costing the health system ~$200 million annually. Despite influenza being the most common infectious cause of asthma flare-ups, influenza vaccine uptake in asthmatic children remains low. This research will determine if a school-based vaccine delivery service can improve influenza vaccine uptake in children with asthma and reduce the burden on families and the Australian health system.
