Full description DSDs are surprisingly common, with an estimated frequency of 1%. However, half of DSD cases remain genetically undiagnosed. We will identify new causes of DSD. We will sequence DNA from patients and develop patient-specific cell culture systems to understand alterations in sex development. We expect to identify novel DSD genes which will be incorporated into DSD panels globally to raise diagnostic yield, which is currently at 40%.
