It contains three Zeiss UV-Vis enhanced spectroradiometers designed to measure near-simultaneous spectral upwelling radiance (Lu), downwelling radiance (Lsky) and downwelling irradiance (Ed). DALEC0001 is deployed on the foremast of the RV Southern Surveyor (VLHJ). Spectra are collected during daylight hours when the ship is at sea subject to suitable sea conditions. Ancillary attitude data for the DALEC included in the dataset are pitch (degrees), pitch standard deviation (degrees), roll (degrees), roll standard deviation (degrees) and gear position (degrees from the bow). The dataset begins July 2011 and is on-going.Maintenance and Update Frequency: continualStatement: In order to extend the footprint of the Calibration and Validation activities of remotely-sensed satellite ocean colour products carried out at LJCO, two spectroradiometers will be installed on ships of opportunity to acquire continuous measurements of the water leaving radiance in the Australian sector of the Indian, Pacific and Southern Oceans. Given the need for daily maintenance activities and trouble-shooting for the radiometers, these instruments will be installed on board of research vessels (Aurora Australis, Solander, Southern Surveyor and/or the new MNF vessel). The provisioning of SOOP-Radiometers data stream will involve: -Acquire first radiometer: the instrument selection and setup will be designed and procured following advice from US and EU Arctic going community. -Demonstrate data stream using LJCO as a platform. -Preparation towards installation of radiometers on the two vessels.
