Brief description
This dataset contains Sea Surface Temperature (SST) underway observations collected on trips of the MV Pacific Celebes (callsign VRZN9). SST is measured by two different types of sensors. One is Aanderaa 4050, 3 of which are installed in a water tank in the engine room, and a Seabird SBE 48. The water supply to the tank comes from the main water intake at the bottom (at the nominal depth of 12 meters) and about 15-20 meters of piping. SBE48 is located in the engine compartment next to the water tank at the depth of 8 meters (when the ship is fully laden). SST and met data are instantaneous, collected every 5 minutes. The data are quality controlled by the Bureau of Meteorology. The daily data files are available from eMII after 0700 UTC.Notes
CreditAustralia’s Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) is enabled by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). It is operated by a consortium of institutions as an unincorporated joint venture, with the University of Tasmania as Lead Agent.
