Brief description
The Australian National Mooring Network Facility is a series of national reference stations and regional moorings designed to monitor particular oceanographic phenomena in Australian coastal ocean waters. The Water Quality Meters (WQMs) collect time series of physical and 'biogeochemical' data: temperature, pressure, salinity, conductivity, depth, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll, turbidity and fluorescence. The WQMs and some NXIC CTDs at one or more depths collect bursting data and data from the bursts have been cleaned and averaged to create data products. The series of National Reference Stations (NRS) and several regional stations from the "Queensland and Northern Australia" and "New South Wales" ANMN sub-facilities contribute data to produce the burst averaged data products presented here.Lineage
The data array in this file has been created by binning (averaging) raw burst data. Each array value is the arithmetic mean of a burst. Length and frequency of the underlying bursts are declared in global attributes instrument_burst_duration and instrument_burst_interval respectively. Out-of-water data excised before binning. Points flagged by IMOS QC as 3 or 4 are excluded from the burst average: includes data values outside of a valid range, data depth outside of a valid range, points with a high rate of change test result, data values in a series of consecutive identical values whose length exceeds a maximum. Burst means calculated from remaining points (IMOS QC flags 0,1,2). Any bursts with no remaining good points after exclusions are assigned FillValue (see variable attributes for value of FillValue). For Maria Island salinity, data values with a rate of change test result more extreme than the 99.9th percentile of rate of change test values (after taking into account time of year and depth) are also removed. The time value is assigned the point half-way between the start and end points of the raw burst.Notes
CreditAustralia's Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) is enabled by the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). It is operated by a consortium of institutions as an unincorporated joint venture, with the University of Tasmania as Lead Agent.
