Brief description
The NSW Bateman's Marine Park 70m (BMP070) mooring is located at Latitude:36.19 S, Longitude:150.19 E. It was first deployed on 2014-11-18. It is one of two moorings deployed near Narooma, southern NSW, to capture the variability of the shelf waters, poleward of the East Australian Current (EAC) separation point. The location, adjacent to Bateman's Marine Park (BMP), was chosen for its proximity to other IMOS activities (AATAMS line and AUV survey sites), the availability of suitable vessels for servicing, and to minimise the risk of mooring loss due to commercial fishing. Instrumentation, position in the water column and sampling regime are consistent with other NSW IMOS moorings. The mooring consists of AQUAtech 520T and 520PT AQUAloggers at nominal 8m spacing through the water column, sampling at 5 minute time intervals. Nominal heights above seabed of the instruments and quantities measured are: 6PT, 14T, 22T, 30T, 38PT, 46T, 54PT, 62T, 70PT. The BMP moorings are serviced every 6-8 weeks. This mooring replaces a mooring formerly deployed at 90m, and was enabled by co-investment by Bega Valley Shire Council .Lineage
