Brief description In this grant, we will investigate mechanisms used by two proteins (Mbl and Rbfox) to regulate alternative splicing. Alternative splicing can produce multiple proteins from the same gene and thereby contribute to the diversity of factors required for wiring-up the brain. Defects in Mbl and Rbfox have been reported in numerous neurological diseases and our goal is to understand how they work so that we can design therapeutic strategies that modulate their function.
