Brief description Over the past decade work from our group has identified that a group of proteins, termed gp130 receptor cytokines, can lead to improvements in both causes and symptoms of type 2 diabetes in both animals and humans. Unfortunately, due to side effects, clinical trial using analogues of these proteins have failed. We believe we know why this is the case and we now have developed new, improved peptides that should overcome these side effects. We hope that we have created a novel drug that will help treat type 2 diabetes.
