This dataset is part of a project aimed at examining the relationship between human capital and growth. In particular, it investigated what the return was to a country when it invested in human capital through education. It contains economic and statistical data for twenty countries belonging to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) - Western Europe, Japan, Canada, USA, Australia, and New Zealand - for the period 1817 to 2009. The dataset was collated from publicly available information, comprising statistical yearbooks, census data, population data, and information produced by domestic statistical agencies available through the internet.Notes
