Brief description The communities of microbes that colonise the human body (the microbiome) profoundly influence the risk of disease and response to therapy. The disruption of these systems, for example, through poor diet or antimicrobial exposure, is implicated in persistent immune dysfunction and diverse pathologies. By understanding these relationships and the mechanisms on which they are based, my aim is to inform clinical decisions, and allow the development of targeted interventions.
