Brief description High pressure facility for optical spectroscopy: investigation of novel superconductors and strongly correlated electron systems. Superconductivity is an effect where the electrical resistance disappears completely at low temperatures. This facility will permit optical spectroscopy under high hydrostatic pressure to reveal important new information leading to a deeper understanding of this effect.
