Heathmont East Primary School (School No. 4819) (VA 5576) opened in June 1962 in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs with an initial enrolment of 113 students. The co-educational primary school operated from a new six-classroom building constructed that year.Enrolment steadily increased with local development, reaching 400 students by May 1969. Six additional classrooms, a central library, and a storeroom were completed in 1970, bringing the total number of classrooms to 12, with enrolment rising to 450 students.
In 2014, the school had 463 students enrolled, increasing to 589 by 2024. Funding for an upgrade and modernisation project was allocated in the 2023–24 State Budget.
Heathmont East Primary School remains in operation in 2025.
