Full description

Data collections are made in spring (pre-wet, October-November) and autumn (post-wet, April-May) each year at 135 sites to the non-tidal reaches of rivers and streams

Notes

Data collected for freshwater catchments are based on 5 indicators; 1. Physical/chemical - pH, electrical conductivity, ambient water temperature (diel maximum and range), ambient dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration (diel maximum and range) 2. Nutrient cycling - d15N, algal bioassay of nutrients (NP:C) 3. Ecosystem processes - algal growth (chlorophyll a), d13C, benthic metabolism (respiration and gross primary production) 4. aquatic macroinvertebrates - number of taxa, PET richness, SIGNAL score 5. Fish - % of native species expected (PONSE), ratio of observed to expected nation species, proportion alien fish

Data time period: 2001
