Brief description Clostridium difficile is a bacterium that causes life-threatening diarrhoea in humans and animals and is a major public health issue in Australia. This project will study the genetic make-up of the bacterium and identify factors contributing to the emergence, evolution, and spread of C. difficile. This knowledge will be essential in guiding effective public health interventions and reducing deaths from C. difficile infection in humans and animals.
