Joan Haughton entered the University of Melbourne in 1931 and graduated with a B.Ag.Sci. in December 1936. She obtained a research grant in January 1943 but resigned it in April. In 1953 Haughton traced the careers of fellow women graduates in Agricultural Science and maintained her interest in the situation of women, and especially young women farmers, through her association with the Young Farmers' movement where her attention was drawn to the lack of training opportunities for girls other than in the universities.User Contributed Tags
