Harmful use of alcohol, defined according to the national context as alcohol per capita consumption (aged 15 years and older) within a calendar year in litres of pure alcohol - There were 191.2 million litres of pure alcohol available for consumption from alcoholic beverages in Australia in 2017-18. This was an increase from the amount available for consumption in 2016-17 (187.6 million litres).\r\n\r\nOn a per capita basis there were 9.5 litres of pure alcohol available for consumption per person in 2017-18, up from the amount in 2016-17 (9.4 litres).
