Brief description

Database storing registered water bore data from private water bores and Queensland Government groundwater investigation and monitoring bores.

Full description

Accuracy varies with age and source of data (1m to 10km). Data preparation standards for data being entered into the Groundwater Database have been in place since at least 1982. These standards are periodically reviewed and enhanced. Data has been manually entered into the database by many staff and imported from other data sources over time and not all data will adhere to these standards. Problems may be identified and corrected through data validation processes. Standards are used to enhance consistency of data. Automatic validation of codes and allowable number ranges occurs when data is entered. Spelling errors may occur through data entry. Data entered from a drilling log is also reliant on the accuracy of the data provided on the log. The data in the Groundwater Database has been collected over many years from many different sources including logs from water bore drillers and groundwater investigations and surveys performed by the Queensland Government. Water level and water quality data is collected from bores on the Queensland Government groundwater monitoring network. The quality or bore locations and other data are variable and the bores construction and other bore properties may have changed over time from that recorded.
