Mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit one gene, partial cds, sequence data. The dataset was compiled to help researchers wanting to undertake a phylogenetic analysis of the Bemisia tabaci species complex; to assign unknowns to already identified members of the Bemisia tabaci species complex or to identify putative new species belonging to the complex. All sequences are available publicly through GenBank and all accession numbers are included. This new version of the dataset contains 544 unique Bemisi tabaci plus outgroup sequences . The sequences are 657 bases in length starting with GAAAATTAGAGGT (using Middle East-Asia Minor 1 DQ174535 as the alignment template). There are two files. The unaligned version contains all sequences as downloaded from GenBank 14 May 2017. The aligned version has been trimmed to 657 bases and two sequences that were in the reverse compliment orientation when downloaded from GenBank have been put into the correct orientation. There have been no further changes to the data.Lineage: THIS IS THE NEW REVISED VERSION. The original dataset contained 558 Bemisia tabaci plus outgroup sequences. This version contains 544 as 14 erroneous sequences have been removed. The sequences are 657 bases in length starting with GAAAATTAGAGGT (using Middle East-Asia Minor 1 DQ174535 as the alignment template) and were aligned using ClustalX (ver. 1.81) according to Thompson et al. THIS IS THE NEW REVISED VERSION. There have been no further changes to the data.
