The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement. \n\n\n\nThis dataset contains schematic geological cross-sections of the Gippsland Basin showing the major geological unit groupings developed for the Gippsland Basin Bioregional Assessment Context Statement.\n\n\n\nNicol C (2010) Report on transient groundwater flow modelling: West Gippsland CMA. Report for 'ecoMarkets' groundwater models. June 2010. Department of Sustainability and Environment.\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThe purpose of these cross-sections is to provide a conceptual insight for the reader into the distribution of the major geological units of the Gippsland Basin. It is not the intention that the cross-sections provide specific details on all stratigraphic units described in the context statement, however, some of the stratigraphic units are named in the diagram to aid understanding by the reader.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThe Gippsland Basin cross sections were produced by Steve Marvanek (CSIRO) in ArcMap 10.2.
