Brief description

## **Abstract**

This dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme. The parent dataset is identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

This boundary defines the area of interest for the Gippsland Basin Bioregional Assessment.

## **Dataset History**

The Gippsland Project Boundary dataset was buffered by 10km on the northern boundary. The buffer incorporates the uncertainty in the exact location of the transition from local scale groundwater flow systems (to the north) and intermediate to regional scale flow systems (to the south).

The buffer was implemented in ArcMap by:

1. Splitting the Gippsland Project Boundary into two polygons; the area adjacent to the northern border, and the remainder of the region.

2. Buffering the northern section by 10km.

3. Joining the buffer to the Southern polygon and dissolving the boundaries.

4. Manually editing some areas to remove the buffer where it extended to the east and west of the required boundary.
