Brief description The Australian Government established the Geological and Bioregional Assessment Program in 2017, a $30 million program over 3-4 years managed by the Department of Environment and Energy. The Program will comprise a series of independent studies conducted by CSIRO and Geoscience Australia, supported by the Bureau of Meteorology. CSIRO and its partners will synthesise data, information and current best knowledge, and conduct research to identify shale gas development scenarios and assess the potential impacts of development on the landscape, ecosystem, surface and groundwater, and communities.
