The sterol contents were determined by GC (Agilent 7890 A) with an FID detector and a HP-1 column (50 m × 0.32 μm × 0.17 μm). Sediment cores at three locations were collected using a push corer by diving and a Vibecore-D corer on the research vessel RV Solander of Australian Institute of Marine Science in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
