Brief description Antibiotic resistance in bacteria is a major global health problem. Polymyxins are antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections to all other classes. Bacteria resistant to polymyxins are increasingly noted but little is known about this form of antibiotic resistance. In this project, we will carry out genetic sequencing of bacteria resistant to polymyxins to learn about how resistance develops and to understand whether these bacteria are being transmitted between patients in hospitals.
