Function / Content
Primary responsibility for co-ordination and implementation of strategically significant projects was vested in the Victorian Government Major Project Unit, established in 1987.
The Major Project Unit was responsible for the following State projects:
Bayside Project
Convention Centre
Southbank
Lynchs Bridge
Jolimont
Library - Museum
Prince Henrys Hospital.
A number of State agencies also participated in the approval and development of major projects.
This series consists of records accumulated by the Development Branch of the Resources and Development Division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Resources and Development Division was responsible for providing advice on the policies, priorities and legislative programs of agencies in the areas of natural resources and urban and regional development. It also provided advice on Cabinet submissions, other briefings and major policy issues. The Development Branch undertook the work of the Division with respect to the areas of transport, housing, planning, tourism, sport and recreation, property and services, public works, infrastructure services and major commercial and industrial projects.
