The fifth Adelaide Gay Community Periodic Survey is a cross-sectional survey of gay and other homosexually active men recruited at a range of gay community sites in Adelaide. Data were collected on anal intercourse and oral sex, the use of condoms, the nature of sexual relationships, HIV testing and serostatus, aspects of social attachment to gay community, recreational drug use and a range of demographic items including sexual identity, age, education, occupation and ethnicity. Additional questions were included in the 2005 survey to address the issues of the frequency of sexual health testing, drug use and injecting drug use, current knowledge of HIV transmission and the rate of HIV infection. Method of Data Collection: Self-completion. Sampling Procedures: Respondents were recruited through six sites in Adelaide as well as at a large public gay community event, Picnic in the Park. Time Dimensions: Repeated cross-sectional study. Sample Population: 811 men were asked to complete the questionnaire and 629 did so. This represented a sound response rate of 71%.
