RESEARCH BACKGROUND: Baracco and Wright Architects' 2014 built project Garden House at Westernport, Coastal Victoria was published as the editorial feature, in the professional journal 'Architecture Australia.' The 6-page review was written by Melanie Dodd of Central Saint Martins, London. RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION: While Garden House project is relatively small in scale, it contributes to contemporary architectural thinking and practice by demonstrating how "infrastructures of towns and cities can be more mindful of its environments, ecosystems and local landscapes." The reviewer commented that Baracco and Wright "wants to redefine architecture through this process - or rather restate its relevance." The editorial director, Cameron Bruhn, further referred to the project as "employing erudite architectural moves, intelligently exploring the relationships between escapism, architecture and the landscape." Glass House was reviewed and discussed as indicative of a more extensive body of work and research, spanning publications, community partnership outcomes and exhibitions. This is a distinct aspect of Baracco's research and design approach. RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE: Garden House was featured on the front cover of the September-October 2015 issue of Architecture Australia (AA) journal. AA is the official journal of AIA (Australian Institute of Architects). The project was also reviewed in Houzz magazine (online). In 2017, Architect Victoria published the essay 'Urban Ecology' written by Baracco and Wright where they further discussed this project. Architect Victoria is the official journal of the Victorian chapter of the AIA.Issued: 2015-01-01
