Brief description

The George Safford Torrey Herbarium (CONN) is one division within the Biodiversity Research Collections of the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut. Founded in 1897 by Henry Arthur Ballou as the Herbarium of Storrs Agricultural College, the herbarium currently houses approximately 200,000 vascular plant specimens, as well as collections of bryophytes, lichens, and fossils. Notable collectors represented include L.J. Mehrhoff, E.H. Eames, K.P. Jansson, and G.S. Torrey.
