Brief description Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the largest single natural cause of death among people with severe mental disorders. The majority of people with severe mental disorders smoke and obesity, related to inactivity and unhealthy diets, is common. The proposed study is seeking funding for long term follow-up of people recruited into a 2009 NHMRC funded trial of a healthy lifestyle intervention to promote smoking cessation and reduce CVD risk behaviours among people with severe mental disorders.
