The types of topics written about in Filmnews concerned all aspects of filmmaking, film exhibition, distribution, appreciation, and the film industry in general. The index (which was created by the AFI Research and Information Library) has over 2800 records which list the different articles within the issues of Filmnews during the years 1975-82 and 1986-1995. AFI Research Collection Filmnews index: - The Filmnews Index can be accessed by the public by appointment only and under the supervision of AFI Research Collection staff. Filmnews Hardcopy: The items held by the AFI Research Collection can be accessed by the public during regular opening hours our outside of these hours by appointment only. There are no restrictions to accessing these materials, however the materials cannot be loaned out. The regular opening hours for the AFI Research Collection are: Tuesday 11am-4pm Wednesday 2pm-7pm Thursday 11am-4pm Visits can be arranged outside of these hours. The AFI Research Collection is not staffed on weekends. The is a collection of indexes of Filmnews magazine, an Australian film journal that ran from 1975 to 1995. Filmnews was originally created as a newsletter by the Sydney Filmmakers Co-operative and then later run by other media bodies. It was one of the major Australian film industry publications of its time and was funded by the Australian Film Commission. The types of topics written about in Filmnews concerned all aspects of filmmaking, film exhibition, distribution, appreciation, and the film industry in general. The index (which was created by the AFI Research and Information Library) has over 2800 records which list the different articles within the issues of Filmnews during the years 1975-82 and 1986-1995.
