This series consists of the record kept of correspondence and file referrrals and movements in the Correspondence Branch of the Department of Crown Lands and Survey. Details given are the date of referral, the number of the file or piece of correspondence, to whom it was referred and the date of return to the Branch.

Referrals were to District land officers, other branches of the department and occasionally to another Government Department. The subject of the file or correspondence may be able to be found by using the Registers of Inward Correspondence used for allocating the correspondence numbers.
