Full description

The current meters were deployed along transects on the reef slope at shallow and deep sites. Two of the transects were deployed in channel entrances, the Quon Channel and the Channel north of Wilson reef to evaluate the exchange of water between the Coral Sea and the GBR lagoon.
The current meter data was downloaded using the MarotteHSConfig software and the velocity was 10 min averaged and saved as csv files. The resulting dataset is available from Research Data JCU. The datafiles were subsequently processed in MATLAB, including Principal Component analysis, tidal analysis using (t_tide from Pavlovich) and low passed using the LP33 filter (this dataset is available upon request).
The velocity in east and north direction was compared to the hydrodynamic model flow fields for the 2022-23 period. Due to the late recovery of the 2023-24 meters, we lacked time to undertake the comparison.
