Brief description
This data represents seaborne casts made off the Schmidt Ocean Institute vessel R/V Falkor on a cruise investigating deep sea coral living in the Perth Canyon led by Chief Investigator Prof. Malcolm McCulloch of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at the University of Western Australia. The cruise (#FK150301) began on the 1st of March and ended on the 12th of March, 2015. Each cast was made to different maximum depths depending on location within and around the canyon. The exact time (local WST) and location (Lat/Lon in decimal degrees and informal site name) are provided with each data set. Each cast consists of water column chemistry data taken from laboratory analyses on water samples collected from the rosette bottles.Lineage

Statement: Data from the first cast is not archived as this was used simply a training exercise for participants with little or no prior experience working at sea. All analyses of carbonate chemistry were made on board the Falkor within hours of the CTD-rosette being brought on board. All cast data is taken directly from the CTD without filtering. All other analyses (nutrients and dissolved stable isotopes) were made on preserved water samples brought back to the University of Western Australia. All bottle chemistry data has been reviewed by Dr. Jim Falter at the University of Western Australia.
Raw data from sensors attached to the CTD can be found at the following URL: http://www.rvdata.us/catalog/FK150301.
