Full description
This data set is generated from a national project “Development of new genetic sources for canola heat tolerance” (Agreement #: UWA2404-011RTX; UWA ROAP ID: 2023/GR001597) funded by the Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC), Australia. In the previous GRDC project (UWA1905-007RTX), we developed a protocol for heat stress tolerance in canola in a prototype heat screening facility (HSF). This method based on a single heat stress event at first flower was useful to identify heat-tolerant germplasm and heat-sensitive germplasm, but many genotypes fully recovered on the side branches of the plants and some even on the main stem. In this experiment, we will explore single and double heat stress events during flowering to separate and define two potential measures of heat tolerance: (i) tolerance of the heat stress events, and (ii) recovery from the heat stress events. The aim of this experiment is to develop new phenotyping protocol for screening of heat tolerance and we will deliver the canola breeders a reproducible and reliable protocol for heat tolerance phenotyping on single plants.Created: 2024-03 to 2025-03
