Brief description
Supplement to: Soja-Wozniak M., Clementson L., Wojtasiewicz B., Baird M.: “Estimation of the global distribution of phytoplankton light absorption from pigment concentrations”; JournalGeophysical Research (Oceans)
Photosynthetic microalgae (phytoplankton) absorb light over the visible wavelengths (400 - 700 nm). This process determines the rate of photosynthesis and the attenuation of light in aquatic environments. This collection provides data and analysis tools to calculate the spectrally-resolved rate of light absorption.
Specifically, the collection contains a MATLAB script (DS04.txt) to reconstruct phytoplankton absorption spectra with the correction due to package effect from the pigment concentration alone.
Additionally input files with the library of pigment-specific absorption of individual pigments (DS01.txt) and the template with pigment concentrations (DS02.txt) which should be replace with user data.
DS03.xlsx file contains data and formula to calculate reconstructed phytoplankton absorption. Note: this calculation does not contain package effect correction.
