Brief description It is widely advocated to include patients and their families in their medical care and in research, yet there is limited evidence on how to do this well. This thesis will aim to provide a summary of the current state of patient involvement in research in chronic kidney disease, and work towards developing an evidence-based framework for involving patients and their families in research in future.
