Brief description
The ESA geospatial boundary was initially developed prior to 2009, primarily based on grouping Australian Bureau of Statistics Statistical Local Area boundaries. Following the introduction of the Community Development Programme (CDP, formerly Remote Jobs and Communities Programme) on 1 July 2013, it took responsibility for Employment Services in remote areas. As a result, some ESA boundaries changed and some ESAs were removed, to exclude remote areas.Further information regarding the Community Development Programme is available from the National Indigenous Australians Agency (https://www.niaa.gov.au/indigenous-affairs/employment/cdp) website.
