For two instruments, shoe throwers and electronics.

Empire is a work influence by the act of 'shoeing', throwing shoes as an insult. Inspired by the events surround a shoeing of George Bush in Iraq, and another of John Howard on prime time TV in Australia, the graphic score uses the outlines of images of these events to make up the melodic detail. In addition, the piece begins with a shoe throwing, that becomes an integral part of the piece through a process of sampling and effect. MaxMSP programming by Jarryd Bird.
