The Electrical Appeals Board was established under the the Electricity Safety Act 1998 (later the Electricity Safety (Electrical Appeals Board) Regulations 1999).

The purpose of the Board was to provide an avenue of review of certain decisions of the Office of the Chief Electrical Inspector.

The Electricity Safety (Electrical Appeals Board) Regulations 1999 regulations were revoked on 29 July 2002, by regulation 4 of the Electricity Safety (Electrical Appeals Board) (Revocation) Regulations 2002, S.R. No. 59/2002. The Electrical Appeals Board then had its functions transferred to Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) (VA 4146), in circa 2002.
