Brief description This project develops a novel diagnostic device, EarGenie, for use in hearing clinics that assess or manage infants with a hearing loss. EarGenie uses functional near-infrared spectroscopy and electrophysiology to evaluate how the infant’s brain responds to sound. EarGenie fills a critical unmet need. Existing technology is not adequate for accurate hearing assessment or for optimal adjustment and evaluation of hearing aids in infants, which are critically needed for good language development.
