Full description

Flights were undertaken with a registered DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise (M3E) RPAS (drone) by pilot Helen Achurch (ARN 1255232) following Departmental Drone Operation Protocols for VLOS operations. All jobs were lodged in AVCRM and approved by an AAD Senior Base Pilot prior to operations.

The flights were undertaken to support activities and conditions the Davis Aerodrome Project (DAP) DAP remediation plan. The remediation plan was based upon the Conditions outlined in the Notice of Determination and Authorisation as listed below and includes the decommissioning of boreholes, access track remediation, and removal of markers and equipment from the site and station.

Specifically:
Condition 67 - Disturbed sites requiring remediation include, but not limited to, access tracks, working platforms, boreholes, excavation sites and other areas, and sites of visual disturbance such as vehicle tracks and heavy foot traffic.
Condition 68 - Remediation following works involving heavy machinery such as excavators must include appropriate methods such as the re-placement of rocks, raking and scattering of fine surface material so that the site visually resembles its pre-disturbance state.
Condition 69 - Remediation must include before and after photographic evidence and must include aerial imagery.
Condition 70 - The Proponent must remediate all disturbed sites as soon as practicable following disturbance.

All drone missions were flown over existing and rehabilitated access tracks, to meet condition 69 above.

Notes

Purpose
Drone data collection was to support AAS project 5097 (Geotechnical investigations Davis Aerodrome Project). Access tracks were rehabilitated through placing soil and boulders back on the road, and naturalistic landscaping. Areas being rehabilitated were flown before and after rehabilitation works. Flights were undertaken under Variation 3 of the Notice of Determination and Authorisation (signed 17 October 2024, expiry date 31/12/2025).
