Since gaining her PhD from the University of Manchester in 2003, Rebecca has worked as a historian of gender and sexuality in the 19th and 20th centuries. She came to Macquarie University in 2007 as a Macquarie University Research Fellow, exploring lesbian cultures and identities in NSW in the mid-twentieth century. In 2010 she was awarded an ARC Future Fellowship, which focuses on 'Lesbian Practices of Intimacy in Australia since 1945'.
