Full description

Dr Gary Misan is an Associate Research Professor with the Centre for Rural Health and Community Development of the Centre for Regional Engagement at the UniSA Whyalla campus. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor (Research) with the Spencer Gulf Rural Health School (SGRHS) also based in Whyalla, South Australia. He has a number of research interests including the prevalence of chronic disease and associated health behaviours in Whyalla, SA; chronic disease self-management; factors influencing participation rates of the National Australian Bowel Cancer Screening Program; oral health in Aboriginal children in SA; the role of men's sheds in improving the social and emotional well being of men; the health impacts of climate change in rural SA; and in primary health care program evaluation.
