Eric Oliver is a post-doctoral fellow in Physical Oceanography at the Institute for Marine and Antactic Studies (IMAS, University of Tasmania) and also with the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science. He studied physics for his undergraduate (2004) and Master's (2006) degrees and received his PhD in Physical Oceanography in 2011 from Dalhousie University. His research interests include studying climate change in the Tasman Sea, particularly its role in the variability of the East Australian Current, the detection and attribution of anthropogenic influences on the oceans, and the global distribution, drivers, and trends of ocean extremes, particularly marine heatwaves
