Associate Professor Brian Devlin is a Chief Investigator of this project.

His primary areas of research interest lie in of Bilingual Education and Applied Linguistics

Current roles include Visiting Professor (Dr R Marika Chair of Australian and Indigenous Studies), Cologne University, Germany (October 2009-) and Associate Professor, Charles Darwin University.

Dr Devlin has almost 40 years experience as an educator, consultant, writer and researcher in roles that have included evaluator ofinternational projects, UNESCO consultant, primary, secondary, tertiary teacher, teacher linguist, school principal, Head of school, Education Faculty Dean, Chair of Darwin High School Council, Chair of NT Education Advisory Council, ACER Council member, ACER Board member, leader of several research groups and centres.

2011, in press A bilingual education policy issue:biliteracy versus English-only literacy. Chapter 4 of Two way teaching and learning: Towards culturally reflective and relevant education, to be published by ACER Press in August 2011 and launched at ACER's Research Conference in Darwin, 7 August 2011.

2011, in press The status and future of bilingual education for remote Indigenous students in the Northern Territory. Commissioned manuscript submitted 30 April, 2011 to the Australian Review of Applied Linguistics.

Other:

In 2008 Dr Devlin was appointed 'expert of international standing' by the Australian Research Council (ARC) College of Experts.
